Jamie Jones
Signed from Everton in the summer of 2008, Jones made twenty-two Football League appearances in his first season at Brisbane Road, while vying for the number one spot with the more experienced Glenn Morris. Jones would continue to share the goalkeeping responsibilities throughout the rest of his six years at the club. His most appearances in a single season came during the 2010-11 campaign, best remembered for the O’s superb cup run, which saw them hold Premier League giants Arsenal to a 1-1 draw. Jones featured in that historic match, as well as the 5-0 drubbing that Orient suffered in the replay at the Emirates Stadium shortly afterwards. Two years later, Orient began one of their most memorable campaigns, which ended in a devastating loss on penalties in the League One play-off final at the hands of Rotherham United. Jones featured in thirty-seven matches that campaign, including a 3-1 win at Swindon Town on 23rd November 2013, during which he was attacked on the field by a spectator. Jones sustained an injury two months later and ‘keeper Eldin Jakupović - on loan from top tier side Hull City - stepped in to fill the void. The Bosnian was later recalled by his parent club and Jones returned to the starting eleven for the final stage of the season. Over the summer, he departed for fellow League One club Preston North End, but would make just seventeen League appearances during his two years with the Lancashire side. Jones went on to play for clubs including Stevenage and Wigan Athletic.
